Meet The Teachers
Carl Lynch has been a maths teacher in St Kieran’s College in Kilkenny since 1992.
Carl decided 10 years ago to produce his own set of computer created class notes. Students have always found these notes exceptionally good and have used these notes as the corner stone of their study and revision. The notes are clear and concise. In class, Carl uses a laptop, a pen tablet and a projector for all his classes.
Carl has high expectations of all his classes, no matter what level. For example, one of his Leaving Cert higher classes of 26 students got 11 A’s, 9 B’s and 6 C’s. A second class of 25 students got 12 A’s, 8 B’s and 5 C’s. Another class of 26 students got 13 A’s, 8 B’s and 5 C’s.
At Junior cert level, in one class of 29 students, 10 students got an A and the rest got at least a C. A second class had 17 A grades from a class of 28 students.
In summary, Carl is a very experienced teacher, with a determination to give his best to each of his students. He has also pushed the use of computer technology to the limit in his own classroom. This experience and technology is now available through the Revise.ie Grinds Online Section.
Carl recently published Shortcuts to Success by Gill & MacMillan. This covers the Leaving Cert pass level course.
